2. “Everyone’s got a plan till they get punched in the mouth” – Mike Tyson
I found a lot of people set a lot of lofty goals during Quarantine, but dreaming is easy, the work to make it a reality is what separates the winners from the wannabes. Some people are coming out of Quarantine like a man on fire, hell-bent on following through and seeing their vision come to fruition. Others I’ve seen get punched in the mouth. It’s important to know, it’s okay if you’ve been punched in the mouth. Everyone will be. Maybe not today or this week, but it’s coming. What’s important is how you respond. Can you keep your nerve? Can you stick to the plan and stay focused even though it hurts, even though you’re in pain? Is your dream more important to you than the short term pain you’re feeling right now? It’s got to be. If it’s not, we need a more deep-seeded dream and why. I’m a firm believer the difference between people who fight through the pain, and the ones who don’t is a simple word: clarity. I have great clarity on what I want, and I’m committed to doing whatever it takes to get it. I think people who get punched and give up don’t; they’re too wishy-washy. Get clear on what you want, why it’s important to you, and get to work. Plan on getting punched. Plan on sucking it up and swinging back.
