Welcome to 5 Bullet Friday! Our Director of Operations, Corey Capone has come up with 5 points that can help any individual with personal and professional development and some are just flat out fun suggestions. Corey started this as just an email he would send to his team each Friday. We as a team have enjoyed them so much, we thought his insight needs to be heard by not just our team but to the public, so welcome to Five Bullet Friday, Enjoy!
Here are 5 points for the week!
1. The Founders were hungover when they signed the Declaration of Independence
The Friday night before finishing the Declaration of Independence there was a party in honor of George Washington. Fifty-five”Gentlemen” attended. They drank 54 bottles of wine, 60 bottles of claret, 22 bottles of porter, 12 bottles of beer, 8 bottles of cider, and 7 large bowls of punch. If they can get it done on a Monday, so can you.
2. The Mastery of Love
Written by Don Miguel Ruiz the author of The Four Agreements, this is my favorite book this week. You’ll never find a great leader whose team doesn’t love them. The Mastery of Love explains how to make sure people feel good and want to be around you, in any relationship, not just the romantic type. Being hyper-competitive and pushing people to be their best is natural to me, having the awareness and emotional intelligence to understand how I make them feel is something I’m working on. If you’re like me this book is awesome.
3. Happiness comes from solving problems
Everyone’s got problems, they just improve. Warren Buffet’s got money problems, the drunk homeless man on the corner also has money problems, Buffet has better money problems. Life is a never-ending pursuit of problem-solving, and with every problem solved comes a new set of better problems. Don’t run from problems. People who do confuse pleasure with happiness. Eating cupcakes is pleasure, being healthy is happiness. Get good at solving the problems in your life and you’ll find happiness.
4. Anti-Entitlement
The best became great because they knew deep down they weren’t. The best at anything understand they’re not special so they work harder than everyone else because they know doing so will be their advantage. Entitled people never win. Understand you’re not special and that’s okay. When you make your dedication and work ethic your defining characteristic you are starting on the path to success.
“The best quotes tell you something you already know, but you’ve never heard anyone say.” – Corey Capone
